Enemy Types

Neutral NPCs

These include character types that are neutral / would expect the player character to be in a given location. They dont react to the player unless they enter into areas that are off-bounds, and if then then do the neutral NPC will give the player verbal warnings, before calling security, or escaliting the situation with an alarm.

Guards

Guards are active security for a given area and do not expect the player to come into that area. If spotted the player will be chased and tazered causing gamover / fail condition and a restart formt he latest ofjective checkpoint or autosave area. A guard can be shook off or distracted with the right stealth or hacking tactics and they will then drop into a search mode, when this has elapsed (based on the guard's motivation to check searchable areas) then th giard will return to their defaul partolling mode.

Feds/Intelligence Services

The feds are a high tech version of the guards who will actively persue the player once made aware of their presecnce with out

The Trace

The trace is a program that can only be seen in data view. It is triggered by overstaying your welcome on a network connection or falling fowl to a honeypot device, or a canary file being accidentally tirggered. Once activated it will follow your network connections and logs to search you out. If the trace catches up to the player then you have been 'hacked back', there can be stun and cool down effects on your tools, and it can beacon to the Feds that your location has been found. Being traced is essentially game over in the majority of instances.
